Trying not to panic...

I went last week and had a ultra sound on my uterus; I've been having some pain and heavy bleeding; I just thought it was because I'm going thru menapause. My Dr. called me today and said I had some "adnormal growth" on the walls of my cervix and she wants to do a biopsy on my cervix. Of course the first thing that comes to mind is cancer. I asked her if that could be it and she said that's why they want to do the biopsy.

Now, she said the soonest she can get me in is March 19!!! About a month and a half away...I don't know why she wants me to wait so long; it's going to drive me crazy wondering for that long whats wrong..have any of you gone thru this and if so what happened? I don't think it's gonna be any fun..I think it's gonna hurt. :(

Think I'll go and stitch a little and get my mind off this mess...

Hugs to you, but I am sure if your Dr thought it was serious you would have an appointment before 19 March...

Sorry to hear this. I think that docs can do that procedure in office and I think you may experience cramping and a little spotting. Prayers your way.

Sorry to hear this. Sometimes it can just be an overgrowth of tissue due to menopause. You build the walls of the uterus up but the hormones are lacking to clear it. I hope the biopsy shows this and procedure called a DNC can treat it. Best wishes. Don't worry until you have all of the info. It's hard not to, I know, but that will send you to placed you may not need to visit.
Happy Stitching!

Sending lots of hugs and prayers....the waiting is not fun....the mind is hard to keep from over thinking...
One thing, if you are uncomfortable with the wait, perhaps you can seek a second opinion and get in somewhere else faster.

Sending good thoughts your way... It is hard not to think of it I know, but keep the faith and keep stitching.

My first thought is that if your doctor felt it was truly serious, you'd have a much sooner appointment. This is something a lot of women have been through, and the waiting is horrible, but it's almost always not a problem. Hang in there, Dear!

Sharlene, I went through a similar situation about 7 years ago, and initially my doctor was going to do a D&C to clear the uterine walls. However, a sonogram in his office showed a tumor, so a hysterectomy was scheduled instead. It wasn't that bad and it turned out to be a totally benign fibroid tumor, not cancer. I hope things go well for you. Theresa

I must agree with the opinions of the ladies before me: if it is a serious thing, you would have got an earlier appointment! So, chin up! My sister had the same (no cancer, just a harmless growth on the uterus walls); the walls are cleaned and everything is ok now! :o)

Alle the best for you! May you find your peace of mind again soon!

I hope everything turns out ok Shar. Like the others said, if they thought it was more serious, they would schedule you sooner.
Maybe they will have an opening before then to set your mind at ease.
Take care. Stitch like crazy!!!!

Lots of hugs and good thoughts coming to you Shar. As others have said I'm sure your doctor would have you in sooner if it was anything really serious. I know that doesn't stop the worrying though.

Lots of healthy and calming wishes are being sent your way...hang in there! I have been through this a few times, and it generally turned out to be a simple procedure and quick fix. I finally convinced my doc to do a hysterectomy so I could be done with the whole mess, LOL! Best decision I ever made :o)

Fingers crossed for good news, try not to worry too much until you know more about what you're facing .XXX

I am sure everything will be fine. I went through the really heavy periods ans then miss a few months. The ultrasound showed a tumor the size of a babies head. The doctor and nurses could not believe that I had no pain. I had a partial hysterectomy and was the best thing I did.It also was not cancerous.

Oh Shar, I am thinking of you, But don't worry, I am sure that it cannot be too serious if the doctor has not scheduled it for straight away. About 18 months ago I found a little lump under my armpit and went to the doctor and he sent me straight away for an ultrasound and mammogram and luckily it turned out to be just a cyst. But if they thought it was serious the doctor would send you straight away. So, I am sure, but I will pray, too, that you are fine.
